Before You StartBuild both the form and the workflow before connecting them. The trigger in your workflow needs to reference the specific form by name.
A form submission without a connected automation is a missed moment. Someone fills in your opt-in, your application, or your discovery call request. The automation decides what happens next — confirmation, tagging, nurture, notification.
Steps
1
Open the workflow builder
Navigate to Automation → Workflows. Click New Workflow.
2
Set the trigger
In the trigger section, select Form Submitted. From the dropdown, select the specific form this workflow should respond to.
3
Add your first action
Common first actions: Send Email (confirmation), Add Tag (based on which form they filled), Create Task (notify yourself to follow up), Send SMS (immediate acknowledgement).
4
Add wait steps between follow-ups
If you have a multi-step sequence, add a Wait step between each message: send confirmation immediately, wait 1 day, send nurture email, wait 3 days, send follow-up.
5
Test with a real submission
Activate the workflow in test mode. Submit the form with your own email. Walk through every step. Confirm emails arrive, tags apply, and tasks are created.
Common Mistakes
- Triggering on any form instead of the specific one. If you use the generic Form Submitted trigger without specifying which form, every form submission fires this workflow.
- No confirmation email in the sequence. The first automation after a form submission should always confirm receipt.
- Not testing before activating. A workflow with a misconfigured email step can send wrong messages to real contacts.
