NoteConditional logic controls field visibility within the form. For branching respondents to different pages after submission, use the workflow builder with If/Else conditions.
Conditional logic makes forms feel personalised. A question about team size only appears if they selected "Business owner" in a previous field. A field for "Other" only shows if they select "Other" in a dropdown. Fewer irrelevant questions means higher completion rates and better data quality.
Steps
1
Open the form in edit mode
Go to Sites → Forms and click Edit on the form.
2
Select the field to conditionally show or hide
Click the field that should appear or disappear based on a condition. Look for a Conditional Logic or Show/Hide Rules option in the field settings.
3
Add a condition rule
Set the condition: Show this field when [Field X] [equals / contains / is not] [value]. Example: Show the "Team size" field when "Business type" equals "Agency".
4
Set the default visibility
Decide whether the field is shown by default (hidden when conditions are not met) or hidden by default (shown only when conditions are met).
5
Test all condition paths
Preview the form and test each answer combination that should trigger the logic. Confirm fields appear and disappear as expected.
Common Mistakes
- Too much conditional branching. A form with six levels of conditional logic becomes difficult to test. Use conditional logic for the most important field-level variations.
- Not testing every path. Conditional logic has multiple valid states. Test each path explicitly.
- Confusing conditional fields with conditional automation. Conditional logic controls what fields appear. What happens after submission is configured in your workflow.
