A live chat widget on your website gives visitors an immediate way to ask questions without hunting for a contact form. Messages from the widget go directly into your Conversations inbox. If Conversation AI is enabled, it can handle the initial response automatically.
Steps
1
Go to Chat Widget settings
Navigate to Sites → Chat Widget.
2
Configure appearance
Set your widget colour, write the greeting message visitors see when they open the chat, and set your business name. Keep the greeting conversational and direct.
3
Set the routing rule
Choose whether incoming chats go to a team member, Conversation AI, or a queue. If you have Conversation AI enabled, set it as the first responder with a human fallback.
4
Get the embed code
Click Get Code. Copy the JavaScript snippet including the script tags.
5
Add the code to your site
For MONDAi-hosted pages: Sites → Websites → Custom Code → Header. For WordPress: paste just before the closing
</body> tag using a header/footer plugin.6
Test the widget
Open your website in an incognito tab. Click the chat bubble, type a test message, and confirm it arrives in your Conversations inbox. Reply and verify it appears in the chat window.
Common Mistakes
- Code in the wrong location. The script must load on every page for site-wide coverage. If placed on one page only, the widget appears on that page only.
- Leaving the default greeting. The default greeting reads like a template. Write one that sounds like you.
- No routing for offline hours. Without Conversation AI, set clear offline messaging that sets expectations for response time.
