Merging is permanent. Before merging, review both records to understand what data each contains. The merged record retains data from both, but conflicting field values will use the primary record's data.
Duplicate contacts happen — someone fills a form twice, a team member adds a contact that already existed, a lead books under a different name. Left unmerged, duplicates mean split history, duplicate emails, and inaccurate automations.
Steps

Find the duplicate contacts
Search in Contacts by name or email address. If two records appear for the same person, they are duplicates.

Review both records
Open each record and note what data each contains. Which has more complete information? Which has the more complete activity history? This helps you decide which to set as primary.

Initiate the merge
On the contact you want to merge into another, click the three-dot action menu and select Merge Contact. Search for and select the record to merge with.

Choose the primary record
Select which record is primary. The primary record's contact fields take precedence. Activity history, tags, and notes from both records are combined into the primary.

Verify the merged record
Open the merged contact and confirm: the correct email is primary, all tags are present, the activity timeline shows history from both original records.
Common Mistakes
- Not reviewing both records first. If the secondary record has important notes not in the primary and you merge without reviewing, you may overwrite them.
- Assuming the system finds all duplicates. MONDAi flags obvious duplicates but not every one. Always search before creating contacts manually.
- Merging contacts that are actually different people. Two contacts can share a name. Verify email addresses before merging.
