Bulk delete is irreversible. Always filter carefully and review your selection before confirming delete actions. Export the group first as a backup.
When you need to update 50 contacts at once, doing it one by one is not a workflow. Bulk actions let you apply changes across an entire filtered selection in seconds.
Steps
1
Filter your contact list
Apply filters to exactly the group you want to update. Confirm the filtered count looks correct before selecting.
2
Select your contacts
Check the box at the top of the contact list to select all filtered results, or check individual boxes. The selection count appears above the list.
3
Open the bulk action menu
With contacts selected, a bulk action toolbar appears. Available actions include: Add Tag, Remove Tag, Add to Campaign, Change Pipeline Stage, Assign to User, Export, Delete.
4
Apply the action
Select the action, complete any required inputs, and click Apply. For large selections, the action processes in the background. A notification confirms completion.
5
Verify on a sample
Open 2 or 3 contacts from the updated group and confirm the action applied correctly.
Common Mistakes
- Bulk deleting without exporting first. Deleted contacts are not recoverable. Export before any bulk delete.
- Not filtering precisely before selecting all. Selecting 4,000 contacts when you meant 400 is an easy mistake. Double-check the filter count before using Select All.
- Not considering automation implications of bulk tag removal. Removing a tag in bulk may cause hundreds of contacts to exit active workflows simultaneously. Review workflows first.
