Understanding how students get into your course — the full path from purchase to first lesson — makes it possible to troubleshoot access problems in under a minute. Most "my student can't log in" situations have the same small set of causes. This article maps the entire access journey so you know where to look when something breaks.
Access in MONDAi flows through a chain: a trigger, an enrollment action, a login invitation to the student, and the client portal where all their content lives. The Memberships infrastructure handles this end to end, built on the same access control layer used across the GoHighLevel ecosystem.
The Access Pathway
Step 1: The trigger fires. Something grants your student access: they complete a purchase on an order form connected to a product that has the course linked, you manually grant access inside the Contacts record or Memberships settings, or an automation grants access based on a tag or form submission.
Step 2: MONDAi creates or updates their contact record. Every student is a contact in your CRM. Their course enrollment is stored on that contact record.
Step 3: A login invitation email is sent. If the student is new to your portal, MONDAi sends them an email with a link to set up their password.
Step 4: The student logs in to the client portal. The portal URL is your connected subdomain — for example, members.yourdomain.com.
Step 5: The course appears in their portal dashboard. Once logged in, the student sees the courses and communities they have access to.
app.getmondai.com. Student login is at members.yourdomain.com. Never send students to the account owner URL.When Something Goes Wrong
Student never received a login email — Check their contact record. Confirm the email address is correct. Check whether the invitation was sent in the activity log. Resend from their contact record if needed.
Student can log in but the course isn't visible — Go to Memberships → Courses, find the course, and check the students list. If they're not enrolled, grant access manually.
Student's password isn't working — Direct them to the portal login page and have them use Forgot Password.
Student can see the course but some lessons are locked — Drip content settings are active. Lessons unlock on a schedule. See How to Drip Content Over Time to review the release schedule.
Common Mistakes
- Not testing the full purchase flow before launching.
- Publishing the course but not connecting it to a product.
- Using an incorrect email address at purchase — creates a new contact record instead of updating the buyer's record.
- Sending students the account owner login URL instead of the client portal URL.
