Moving your existing audience into MONDAi is a one-time process that unlocks everything — automated sequences, smart list segmentation, and CRM-powered campaigns — for the contacts you have already built relationships with. A clean CSV import with proper field mapping takes about fifteen minutes and brings your full contact history into the new platform.

Preparing Your CSV

Your CSV file should include at minimum: First Name, Last Name, Email Address. Additional fields you can include: Phone, Tags, Address, Custom Fields. Run a deliverability check on your list before importing — remove known bounces and invalid addresses. Free tools like NeverBounce or ZeroBounce work for this.

Steps

Go to Contacts

Click Contacts in the left sidebar.

Click Import Contacts or the Import icon

Upload your CSV file

Map your CSV columns to MONDAi contact fields

Match each column in your file to the corresponding field: First Name → First Name, Email → Email, etc. Custom fields need to be created in MONDAi before you can map to them.

Assign a tag to all imported contacts

Tag them with something like "Imported-[date]" so you can identify them as a group and manage their deliverability separately.

Select how to handle duplicates

MONDAi checks against existing email addresses — choose whether to update existing records or skip duplicates.

Confirm and run the import

Verify the import results

Check the imported count against your CSV row count. Review any failed rows.

Compliance

Only import contacts who have explicitly opted in to receive communications from you. Importing purchased or scraped lists violates both MONDAi terms and CAN-SPAM/GDPR regulations, and will damage your sender reputation.

Common Mistakes

Importing without cleaning the list first — dirty lists damage sender reputation immediately.
Not tagging imported contacts — you lose the ability to identify and manage them as a group.
Importing a list that includes purchased or scraped contacts.
Not verifying the import results before sending any campaigns.
